此次演出卡司阵容华丽，曾演出过《苦海余生》、《明日帝国》、《加勒比海盗》、《冰与火之歌：权力的游戏》等影片的英国演员、第四十八届戛纳最佳男演员乔纳森·普雷西（Jonathan Pryce）将出演夏洛克；曾在《福尔摩斯：基本演绎法》中出演的瑞秋·皮卡普（Rachel Pickup）将饰演女主角鲍西亚。

故事内容

时下常说的“割肉”、“剁手”，在这会儿看来其鼻祖正是出自莎翁的著名喜剧《威尼斯商人》。巴萨尼奥急需一笔钱去向贝尔蒙脱一位继承了万贯家产的女郎鲍西亚求婚。好朋友安东尼奥却因为货船尚未回港且没有余钱，转向犹太商人夏洛克借高利贷来帮助朋友。夏洛克憎恨安东尼奥乐于助人，提出要他以身上一镑肉作为抵押，贷款期限为三个月。憨厚的安东尼奥同意了。还款期限到了，安东尼奥的货船却消失无踪。无法还款的安东尼奥被夏洛克告上法庭，要求偿还一磅肉……

莎士比亚环球剧场

坐落于伦敦泰晤士河南岸的莎士比亚环球剧场，历史可追溯到1599年，最初的环球剧场是由威廉·莎士比亚所属的宫务大臣剧团所建造；莎翁大多数的作品相信都在此首演。其后几经摧毁、再造和被迫关闭。1949年，美国导演和演员萨姆·沃纳梅克首访伦敦，开始了重建计划；21年后，环球基金会正式成立；其后再经过23年孜孜不倦的多方募款与考证研究，新剧场于1997年落成，呈现了伊丽莎白时期的剧院原貌，并由英国女王亲自主持开幕。

Shakespeare’s Globe on Tour reinvents Elizabethan touring theatre for the 21st century. Using a stage design inspired by images from the time, the Globe’s travelling players recreate all the fun and excitement of early theatre. Just as with the old King’s Men, they don’t perform only in theatres but in a plethora of picturesque and historically resonant settings.

Synopsis

I will not hear thee speak; I’ll have my bond.

Portia, a wealthy heiress of Belmont, sets her suitors a challenge. The winner will win her hand in marriage; the losers will lose her hand and much more. In Venice, the epicentre of consumption, speculation and debt, Bassanio borrows money from his friend Antonio to finance his attempt. Antonio, in turn, takes out a loan from the moneylender Shylock. The loan will be repaid when Antonio's ships return to the city. But if they should fail, and the money cannot be repaid, Antonio shall give to Shylock a pound of his own flesh. And they do fail. And Shylock will have his ‘bond’.

In some of his most highly-charged scenes, Shakespeare dramatizes the competing claims of tolerance and intolerance, religious law and civil society, justice and mercy; while in the character of Shylock he created one of the most memorable outsiders in all theatre.
